A little stitchin' & a little thrifting!

Today is about show and tell, felt like I haven't done a lot lately but will show what little I have achieved!
This is from an old Country Threads mag, it will be a pillow case.
(you where right Chris, )

There is 6 of these flower posy's to do, 5 to GO!!

And now the thrifting, on Sunday I picked up from Eltham this cute bird cage (trademe) for all of a $1.50 !!
Bargain I know, but while driving thu town I noticed a vintage clothes shop open and then I noticed a beautiful old hatbox on a table of treasures - this was a must and only $14 with the linen I also grabbed!

Big plans for this hatbox, but wait there is more........................................

This basket full of little treasures was from Hawera on Tuesday, total $4.

But this had to be the buy of the day.................................................

Hope you have a great day and find some bargains too!
I am off to put up a electric fence and milk some cows as hubby is in
Te Kuiti.

It's hard to believe it is the 1st of February and as of today both boy's are back at school! I hate the end of the holidays, I love having them home annoying me!  Sad I know!!
But I thought on a brighter note I would show afew photos and have a wee catch up!  Last Thursday was my birthday and a great day it was, I went out for tea on the Wednesday nite with family and then again on the Thursday nite with friends, so spoilt I know but there was also pressies...........................
Clock and flowers from hubbie.

Fabric from Mum and Dad

This gorgeous container from Julie, Rolly & family

And remember this unit Ben made me, well Ben and Cody's present to me was baskets of my choice - I want 3 underneath and maybe two next to the draw, but after 2 special trips to town I still haven't found any I like!!! So soon I hope.  I also received from my brother and fiancee (and mum and dad went in as well) a voucher to a very cool shop called 'Willo'.  I was certainly spoilt!! Thanks my loved ones.
Hope all is well in your world, Michelle.

Repurposing with Kindred Heart Stitches

Kindred Heart Stitches had it's first meeting of 2012 on Friday !  I was so excited, because until Friday I had felt sluggish and not motivated at all.........................but that changed on Friday..................I am all inspired again!!! Our first project of the year was re purposing - it's amazing what we all came up with.  Let me show you
Nancy's re purposed bird feeder below (very clever)

Claire's cloche and beautiful swag from old post cards (love it!!)
 And the talented Nicky,
This baking tray was a favourite,
This was my small creation.  A candle holder made with re purposed kitchen spoons.
But there is more, I was really spoilt this month as it is my birthday month.  I will start with Michelle's gifts to me (she is so, so clever!!) as she made me re purposed gifts (which I love).
This is going in my craft room - it has pockets for my scissors, tape etc.

This beautiful re purposed doily bunting,

And this very cute sprinkles container (sprinkles included) it has a very cute saying on..

and last but not least this cute bag with my name on it. Now the wonderful Nancy made me a re purposed bird feeder like her one.
Lorraine gave me some very cute kitchen labels,
The talented Claire gave me a very cool prim box, soap dish, soap and all wrapped in a fab fat 1/4.

Now the cheeky Nicky made a re purposed Christmas decoration (and I say cheeky because the ball part is from my house! Love it!!) The ball is sitting on an old bed spring and has a rusty bell.

What an amazing day with some amazing friends, can't wait till next month.  I know this is abit photo heavy but I think it is worth it!!
Have a great day, Michelle

Bread maker Jam?

My wonderfully old bread maker does just that - it makes jam!  In just over an hour , not just any jam, yummy strawberry jam!  I think once you have had home made jam you will never look at shop brought jam the same way again.

I am excited as our Kindred Heart Stitching group meets tomorrow for our first meeting of 2012.  We have to take along something that we have re purposed- it should be fun!  Have a great day, Michelle.

My office view - doesn't look too bad!

While waiting in line at the supermarket I was lucky enough to be standing behind a women who I think had nothing positive to say about anything! While listening to her whine about how long it took to get to work and the traffic it starting me thinking about how lucky I was, to be enjoying what I/we do.  Yes the weather can be unpredictable rain, hail, snow and then the extreme of a drought but look at the view I have getting to my office...

A view from the top of the hill where the cow where grazing.

 Arriving at the office.
A view of the inside of my office-(actually in a meeting with the first 48 ladies!)  I believe there has to be positives in what ever you do or it's not worth doing!  Take time out today and appreciate what you have .  Have a great day, Michelle.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Happy New Year folks - Wow 2012 where did 2011 go??  Sorry its taken me a wee while to wish you all the best for 2012, but things have been a tad bit busy !  Been doing abit of milking as my husband has been helping a local contractor out by shearing,( I think I have the easy job!) Also been trying to get on top of the weeds in garden - they sure are loving this muggy weather.  And today I started the big pack up of Christmas decorations- it takes 4 days to put them all up and longer to pack!!  I thought I would show a few photos of some of my Chrissy presents  - I was so spoilt! (not complaining really....)

I will show the rest later on.  Picked up my stitching the other nite but nothing to show yet.  Have a great nite, Michelle.
